High marks from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce

Written by emallers on June 29th, 2013

This week, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce released scores for all state legislators based on certain votes cast during the 2013 legislative session. I was humbled to receive a 94% rating from the Chamber for this session bringing my aggregate score to 95%.

The Chamber’s Vote Analysis has been produced for the past 29 years after every legislative session. The legislator’s scores are determined by his or her votes on particular bills and select amendments where the outcome of those bills and amendments on the state’s economy would have an impact on Indiana businesses.

This year, the Chamber graded the entire General Assembly on several bills, including but not limited to the budget, various tax reform bills, the Indiana Career Council, as well as a few bills that would increase opportunities for Hoosiers to access a high quality education.

As a legislator, I am intent on finding ways to improve our state’s attractiveness for people wanting to start a family here and find a rewarding job. Having a lean government that is fiscally responsible lays the foundation for economic success, which is evident in the General Assembly’s work to lower the tax burden facing Hoosiers. Indiana has a regulatory environment that is conducive to business growth and is major factor in our state’s continued prosperity.

I appreciate the Chamber’s recognition of my efforts to make Indiana the best state in the nation to go to school, get a job and raise a family.
