Now that we’ve made it into the new year, I am officially stepping back to fully enjoy retirement. This means means I will no longer be regularly checking this account or my other social media accounts. I appreciate all of your support, prayers and friendship over the years – it has truly meant the world to me and Volly. Thank you.

If you need help with any state issues or legislation, please contact our new state representative, Michelle Davis, at h58@iga.in.gov.

If you need to get ahold of me for non-legislative issues, you can contact me at 317-881-0400.

The Johnson County Republican Women’s Club had a great weekend at the Indiana Federation of Republican Women’s (IFRW) Tribute to Women. Johnson County had a great group attend the dinner on Friday, August 7. IFRW honored Johnson County’s own Volly Burton and her commitment to our club and our party.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence, First Lady Karen Pence, State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell, and State Attorney General Greg Zoeller joined IFRW President Linda Hall in recognizing Volly Burton for her outstanding service and leadership in the Indiana Republican Party.

President Hall said, “The “Tribute to Women” is one way that Indiana Republicans can acknowledge the tremendous volunteer work women contribute to make a difference in Indiana. Republican elected officials and candidates realize the commitment of time and energy that Federation members have given to make their elections successful. The IFRW is very proud to recognize Volly Burton and her worthwhile political activities.

Johnson County also had a scholarship winner. Allie Abney was selected as an IFRW scholarship winner and Allie and her mother were at the dinner to celebrate too.

Thank you to those that attended and congratulations to Volly & Allie!

Rep. Burton praises student success

Friday, November 8th, 2013

I am proud of the students, parents and teachers for their hard work and commitment to educational excellence. All of these stakeholders in the Hoosier education system are seeing real academic gains, which puts students in the best possible position to succeed outside of the school walls. The education policies enacted since 2008 are continuing to bring improved results, and the fact that Indiana has the second largest improvement rate in the nation  of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), proves that we must continue our efforts to make our state the leader in education.

Rep. Burton reacts to State of the State Address

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

“Gov. Daniels said some great things tonight and he set some high goals for us this year. In the past seven years, he has done a profound job for Indiana, and, while not all decisions were easy, he has put our state on the right track. After some bumps at the beginning of this session, I hope that we can get down to business and do what’s right for Hoosiers living and working in our state. I am – as I’m sure my colleagues are – ready to get to work.”
